You need to write a hand-written letter to the IRS, better yet, call them also, at 1-800-829-1040 and tell them that you made a mistake of ignorance (you didn’t know what you were required to do, and you had never filed before, and you didn’t expect to make as much money as you did, and never expected to file a return, and then admit that you blew it. ) It may or may not work, but the IRS loves honesty and people whoever don’t have much money and are trying to be good citizens. Then ask them, “What specifically should I do?” Then write it all down, and do exactly as they say. GET THE PERSON’s NAME and ID# that you talk to, and ask if he/she can: 1) MAKE A NOTE IN YOUR FILE that you named and are going to follow up immediately on what they said, and 2) ask if you can pay any tax due on installment and what’s the IRS’s fee schedule and charges if you do. Then, when you file your 1040 income tax return, write a HAND-WRITTEN letter, referring to your phone call and explain in the letter that you are very sorry, and you didn’t do it intentionally and you are trying to do exactly what the representative you talked to said for you to do – then give name of rep and #. Enclose this letter on top of your return when you file. Above all, be honest, innocent and nice. Trust me, they know the difference between your average citizen whoever makes a “dumb mistake” and the millions of sleazies whoever are all piped up to scam them and underpay. They know. And I know because I am an accountant, tax accountant and I have talked with IRS tax auditors up to the level of regional managers, and also done returns for my customers whoever were audited by the IRS and any whoever were in exactly the same position you are in. Now, in a straight-forward situation, the IRS will give you a straight-forward answer, and everything I just told you may not do you any good at all. A lady’s total income was $10,000, and we reduced her PROFIT and therefore HER TAX AND INTEREST AND PENALTIES to ZERO. Why would I lie or brag. I have nothing to gain here. There may be other deductions you qualify for and even tax credits, but I don’t know, without going through it all with you. Other state and local income taxes: $____” While filing online, I got an alert here. I did not enter anything in. What exactly is the question asking. Do you know what I found? This question basically is looking to see if you should itemize your deductions or take the standard deduction. When you itemize, one of the things itemized is how much in taxes you paid to the states last year. They can figure out how much you paid from your paystub. They also want to know though, if you owed any money on your 2006 tax return that you paid then, because that counts towards “income taxes paid in 2007″ for itemized deduction purposes. So what this question is asking is: – Did you owe any income tax on last years return that you paid. – Did you pay any back income taxes on last years return. – The key is that it’s *state* income taxes. They don’t care whether you owed / paid any federal income tax last year. Nothing too sinister.

Would the tax deductions and refunds be 100% of the amount you donate to chairity? Sources? What do you mean, itemize it. After speaking to others on the web, I found the answer. It is a fraction of what you donate. For example, I had a lot of base ball and basket ball cards in complete Series or close to it. I need to make space so I donated about three case of it to the salvation army. Each collection was worth from 15bucks to 100 or more depending on what card company makes them. So I check the becket for price of all the cards in sets that is, and it was over three thousand dollars. The worker taking in the donation gave me a receipts so I can use it as a tax deduction. At the end, I think I got like 200 bucks back from it. So basically, your not going to get all your money that you donate back.
